Responsibilities

A Divergent Volunteer will have the option to perform a variety of tasks based on their desire and availability. Additional tasks may be requested to meet the immediate needs of the organization. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Promotion of Mason Toy Box mission and activities 

Production of donation boxes during peak season

Delivery of donation boxes to and/or (pick up from) various locations in and around the Charlottesville/Richmond Virginia areas.

Sorting through donations and preparation of personalized donation packaging

Commit to accessing personal network to promote MTB and fundraising events

Serve as a representative for Mason’s Toy Box in Virginia and attend events as available

Communicate effectively with appropriate MTB board member to determine the best strategy for securing new partnerships

In person marketing promotion

Loading and unloading donations to various facilities on delivery day

May be requested to accompany MTB members throughout hospitals and facilities when personally delivering donations to patients and families (must have flu shot and not have any contagious illness at the time of delivery)

Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication skills

Volunteers accompanying MTB members in hospitals and other patient care facilities must have a current flu shot, no contagious illnesses at the time of delivery, and agree to maintain the confidentiality of the recipients

Skills Required

Willingness to reach out to local businesses to facilitate relationships with local businesses and community groups.

Ability to communicate the mission of Mason’s Toy Box

Ability to provide exceptional customer service

Ability to problem solve and demonstrate effective communication skills

Ability to lift 20lbs or more

Ability to inspire, motivate and challenge the public to get involved with Mason’s Toy Box mission and events

Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of Mason’s Toy Box

Responsibilities

Secure monetary donations from external vendors for event funds such as restaurant promotions, retail store promotions, company fundraisers, and local church, club or youth group fundraisers.

Commit to accessing your personal network to recruit fundraising partners.

Meet individually with MTB board members to determine the best strategy for securing new partnerships. Set fundraising and outreach goals.

Communicate regularly with MTB board members regarding successes and challenges.

Serve as a representative Mason’s Toy Box in Virginia and to the newly cultivated External Event partners.

Take photographs and videos at events, donation deliveries, and outreach opportunities in a tasteful manner while adhering to photo release and consent forms

Quickly compile, organize, and deliver photographs/videos for use by MTB on website, marketing material, and social media sites

Responsible for overseeing coordination and distribution of drop off locations and retrieval of donations. Effectively communicating with volunteers and board members.

Responsible for assisting the Director of Volunteer Services with coordination of map location for donation collection locations and donation retrieval. Processing and maintaining volunteer demographic information, recruitment of volunteer and coordinating volunteer assignments and responsibility.
